Automated HandlerA Ridgeline customer is a manufacturer of high speed, precision wire bonding equipment. Ridgeline has developed a family of automatic conveyors and handler systems for our customer. These systems are integrated onto their various Bonding Machines, automating the bonding process, and allowing the Bonding Machine to be used in fully automated semi-conductor assembly lines. These assembly lines are to SMEMA standards, and are used to assemble and connect circuit boards, ceramic substrates, and semi-conductor packages carried on industry standard AUER boats (flat pallets).
An industry problem was the lack of an inexpensive, automated means to distribute the flat pallets onto a conveyor at the start of the assembly line and to collect them at the end once automated processing was complete.
Ridgeline developed a small, inexpensive handler to perform this task. Costs were kept in check by the extensive use of sheet metal parts. We were able to maintain great flexibility and easy customer setup and parts changeover by using user set software parameters within the control architect.
